Victorian Disco Cosmetics Review

I'm a member of a website called Beautylish which is this awesome website for people who love makeup to talk exchange links and pick up great tips on a subject we all have in common. Recently another member Smashley S. asked if anyone would be interested in being in a trial for her new indie makeup company (Victorian Disco Cosmetics). I just received my samples in the mail a few days ago and I'm really excited to share the swatches and my thoughts on them with all of you ! :)

This post is pretty picture heavy so I did not include shots of the baggies these came in or the exterior bag that kept them safe during shipping. The baggies themselves are nice and strong and not flimsy I think these can easily survive shipping with or without the pretty black and pink exterior bag they came in.

In the photos the primer I used was Urban Decay Primer Potion in Original and I also used NYX Milk Jumbo Pencil along with UD Primer. I know not everyone uses NYX Milk but I do on a regular basis and wanted to be able to offer you guys a few different views of the swatches.

First up we have Do The Jabba Jabba. This is a gorgeous bright yellow color with this very unique yellow sheen to it. I loved how this one swatched out even over bare skin it had very nice color payoff and was easy to work with. Adding NYX Milk as a base for this just helped it stand out even more.

Next up is R2. I'm a sucker for blue shades and this one is no exception. This is an almost electric blue with silver sheen. On her site it says it also has green flecks in it I can't really see any green in it but regardless this is a awesome shade. It swatched great even on bare skin and adding primer and NYX Milk pencil only helped enhance it's already awesome color.
Droids is a golden shade with gold flecks and gold sheen. This is a really pretty color but it did swatch very sheer even with primer. I do like it and think it would be great as a highlight shade since it has that sheerness to it. I did find that a little blending goes a long way with this one.
Atropine is a minty green with gold flecks and sheen to it. I found I had best results with this one when using UD Primer and NYX Milk together. Doing this really allowed its true color to show up on my skin. Alone and with UD Primer it was sheerer than I would have liked.
Yoda's Yoga Mat is a lighter green with lots of gold sheen to it. I was really disappointed with how this one swatched out it was too sheer even over NYX Milk. I think it has the potential to be an awesome and unique shade it just needs a bit of tweaking.
Tatooine is an awesome shade light brown with gold flecks. This was sheer on bare skin with no primer but once I added primer it swatched and stayed on beautifully. I'm a big fan of brown shades like this and this one is sure a keeper.
Revolutionary Ball is a deep black with dark blue sheen. This is where things got a little tricky. I could not get this to stick to my bare skin at all. It slightly tinted my skin but that was about all I could get out of it without a primer of some kind. Once I added primer I was quite surprised by the results, it really just needed something to stick to. I'm really happy with how it turned out once primer was added and love the color.
The Fett is a deep purple with light violet and red sheen. Again I had trouble with this one on bare skin but once I added a primer it turned out to be a wonderful shade. I think its very unique and I really like how the sheen turned out with this one.
Last but not least we have Ewok Pajama Party this is a black shade with gold and violet sparkles and a slight purple sheen. I had the most trouble with this one even over UD Primer I had trouble getting it to show up. The sparkles showed up well but the black base looked almost grey. Sadly this one I do not like.
All of the shades were silky and very smooth in texture. I did not feel that they were heavy on the skin either even with UD Primer and NYX Milk added. My favorites out of these are R2, Do the Jabba Jabba, Tatooine, Revolutionary Ball and The Fett.

Ones I liked but not so much loved were Droids and Atrophine mainly because they are a bit on the sheer side.

Yoda's Yoga Mat needs some tweaking I feel but is a great shade. The only real miss I think was Ewok Pajama Party since I had a lot of trouble getting it to stick and show up on my skin even with primer.

Im not one to post looks of the day but I did wear these (Tatooine and Droids) yesterday with UD Primer and NYX Milk under them and had no issues with creasing or smudging around.

I want to thank Ashley for letting me be a part of her trial and I wish her the best for her business. Her shades are very affordable and she has excellent customer service. Another thing I really like about these products are the names they are not only super cute but they appeal to my geeky side which is pretty much an instant selling point for me :)

She will also be releasing a Sailor Moon inspired collection soon, for even more geeky goodness. If your interested in purchasing any of the shades you've seen here and more you can:
Visit her Etsy Shop
Right now you can get 15% off by using code GRANDOPENING (Not sure when this expires)
If that expires you can also use code MERRYXMAS7 for 10% off your order until Christmas :)
Check out her Facebook Page
And
Follow her on Twitter

I think that cover it for now ladies, sorry for the giant wall of text I just crit you all with (Only my super geeky readers will understand the joke on that one) but this definitely deserved a detailed post :)

Edit: Just received word that Ashley is working to fix the issues with shades that were a bit sheer or didn't stick well as I was not the only one experiencing this problem. Now that is customer service :)

*These products were free samples in exchange for my honest opinion on them*
