fresh Sugar Lip Treaments in Passion, Honey and Plum

This was my first time trying out any fresh sugar lip treatments and I'm a little disappointed. I got these as a stocking stuffer gift (for myself lol) and for the price I think they are really lacking. When I first opened it I was instantly put off by the size of the lip product itself its very small and thin because of this it feels like its going to break off when using it . I know they are mini sized but I think the packaging is a bit deceiving when it comes to size of the actual product and not worth the $28 dollar price tag.

The color on the Honey and Plum lip treatments is poor at best. The Honey is this horrible orangie nude color and looked bad not only in the swatch but it actually looked worse on, if your pale stay far far away from this color. If this came out more sheer to begin with it would have half a chance but its too pigmented for its own good. The Plum color isn't as bad but it does not work with pale skin tones, it looked almost like I had kool aid stained lips when I put this on. Again if it were more sheer it would have half a chance. The Passion color was the only one that I liked out of this three set. It came out nice in the swatches and looked nice on it wasn't too overpowering of a color and stayed on nicely.

Now even tho I did not like the color of two of these the formula of this product is very nice. It goes on smooth and does not feel sticky or tacky on the lips. It also has an SPF 15 in it which is a nice touch and helps make it more friendly for daily use I think. Another nice thing about this is it actually does moisturize your lips, after using this on them a few times they were really soft and I was quite surprised by how well it worked since for me the colors were such a flop. This product is also formulated without Petroleum, Parabens ,Sulfates, Synthetic Dyes, and Phthalates. Which is really nice if your trying to steer away from products that have extra unnecessary junk in them. The packaging on these is also another good point for these, the lids twist shut to the base so they are easy to throw into your purse or makeup case and not worry about them coming open on you.

These run $22.50 for the full size product even tho I like they way they make my lips feel I'm not sure I would repurchase at that price. To me it almost feels like I'm buying a really expensive colored lip balm since if I did repurchase I would go with the clear one they make. I purchased mine from Sephora and you can check out the full line of fresh products here.

Do you have any fresh Sugar products?

  1. I don't have any of their products, but I'm glad to know that they're not sticky. That's one of the things I hugely DISLIKE about any lip gloss. I'm also pleased to know that it contains SPF. With that said, I share your feelings about purchasing. I wouldn't either lol

  2. Hmmm...never tried this before, but I agree, the colors look a little harsh. I like subtler hues.

  3. I haven't heard good things about this brand before, so I haven't bought anything from there. The packaging is really pretty, though, and I am such a sucker for that :(
