EOS Summer Fruit and Sweet Mint

Have you heard of EOS aka Evolution of Smooth? They are pretty popular at the moment and are known for their Lip Spheres! They also make Body Lotion, Hand Lotion, Shave Cream, and other Lip products. I picked up two of their Lip Spheres in my Drugstore.com haul and I'm pretty happy I did for the most part. I was interested in picking these up because they are 95% Organic and 100% natural and have the USDA Organic seal. They are also Gluten, Phthalate, Paraben, and Petroleum free. So if your concerned about certain chemicals this is a great product that is free of any extra junk.

The first one I chose was Summer Fruit, I heard a lot of people say the taste of this reminded them of coconut and that it smelled nice. Well neither of these things are really true... The taste is more like a fruit punch and more artificial than anything and the smell is well confusing to say the least. I can't figure it out but it's a little offensive and almost smells like ...rotting fruit... It's not a good smell that's for sure the taste is tolerable but the smell really throws things off. This one is also much more waxy than the Sweet Mint which I found odd because they have the same basic ingredients. Perhaps the Summer Fruit I received was old or expired even? Needless to say I'm not using this one.

Sweet Mint on the other hand is completely different than the Summer Fruit it has a soft minty scent to it tastes just like those peppermint fluff candies and has a cooling sensation when applied. I love this lip balm hands down and could easily replace my over used coco care lip balm that is so beat up I have never actually reviewed it here.. lol I find I do lick it off my lips more often than not however because it taste so good so I'm continually re applying it. I can't help its quite tasty! This one also feels thin and smooth when applied with no waxy effect.

Since using Sweet Mint I find my lips are well moisturized and much more supple. I have very dry lips in the winter months and they tend to flake and peel more often than I would like them too but in combination with some exfoliation from Lush's Sweet Lips and this EOS Sweet Mint Lip balm I'm pleased to report that they are in much better condition.

A little goes a long way with these which is nice and the application method is definitely a bit different since this is a sphere. I'll admit it felt a little awkward applying it at first but once you get used to it it's not so bad. The packaging on this product is super nice and the spheres actually twist closed so they are great to throw in your purse and not have to worry about it getting on anything. They are too bulky to keep in your pocket but I don't usually put lip balms in my pockets for fear of melting..

Overall I would recommend the Sweet Mint and say skip the Summer Fruit. These retail for $3.49 from Drugstore.com or find them in stores at many Walgreens locations.

Have you tried EOS Lip Spheres?

  2. I despise the smell of the summer fruit one -_-
I pretty much love all the other ones though! I just wish they lasted a bit longer, they wear off a bit quick on me.

  4. The summer fruit one was what I had and it was waxy and nasty! I might give the brand a second chance and try another flavor.

  10. Thanks for the review. I had heard mixed things about these. If one smells like rotting fruit, it makes perfect sense now. I'll have to try the Sweet Mint. I've been looking for a new lip balm.

    1. Anytime, yeah I was also on the fence about that because I had heard things but I'm glad I tried two out instead of just one the ingredients that vary from scent/flavor really do make the difference.

  12. I have both too and I really love them but sadly I have a reaction with the sweet mint. After a few hours my lips would itch, puff and inflame a bit and get really red. I thought it was a one time thing but it only happens when I use the Mint. :( I'm sad. I really liked it.

  15. I have the summer fruit and the yellow one, which I believe is lemon. I am going through the yellow one more as it has spf 15 and the smell is good. I got them at the AMA's while I was working the gift tent and I love the smell of the lotion, Nourish. They gave us small ones for our purse so I ended up going on the website to buy a large bottle to refill it. It's not thick, not runny, so I like it. And I love the smell.
