Monday Blues: Phoebe Zoya Matte Nail Polish

Well it's Monday and I'm not really sure where it is the weekend went... Needless to say I have a case of the Mondays! So what better way to get over it than with a lovely blue polish from Zoya, this is Phoebe a matte blue polish.

I picked this up in their two free polish promo and I was actually thinking I wouldn't like it as much as I truly do. This is perfect for spring since it's bright and eye catching and it's one of those colors that gives off a just be happy vibe which is perfect when you have the Monday Blues.

Now I actually painted these on Saturday and I didn't use a base coat (*Dodges bottles of polish thrown by the Nail Bloggers :)*) and didn't use a top coat because well its a matte polish and I figured that was a no no.  Sadly because I didn't use a base coat this started to chip within hours of being painted, I blame my inexperience with matte polish on this one. Interesting enough tho I didn't use a base with Loredana and I didn't have any problems with it chipping for 2-3 days, but I still really feel the reason was I didn't use a base coat.

In the photos below I used three thin ish coats (this could have also been a contributing factor to the chipping). The first coat was streaky as all get out but as I layered it on it became much more solid and way less streaked. It dries really fast I would say about 2 mins until it was fully dry on each nail, which is great for me the clutz who always smudges polish before I get a chance to even wear it.

You need this fabulous matte nail polish in your life! This retails for $8.00 and is sold from Zoya or any professional beauty supply store that carries the brand. I'm really liking these matte polishes I picked up and think they are right up my alley so I'm thinking soon I'll be picking up a couple from another brand I've been drooling over, stay tuned!!

Have you tried Zoya Matte Polish?

  3. Love the matte Zoya polishes. I had to use a base coat the 2nd try, because the first time it stained my nails bad. *love the blog, new follower*

  4. Similarly to you, I took advantage of the Zoya deal as well and brought home 2 colours one was an extremely girly girl pink the other was a toned dark darker shade of purple pink...yawn! This is awesome but I have bought matte nail polish and it looks odd on me! It could be that i prefer the high gloss look?

    1. Aww I'm sure they stunning colors :) Could be but keep in mind if you add a nice glossy top coat to any matte nail polish it will turn it into a more sparkly effect and take away the matte that could be a way to get around the dullness and make it shine like no other :)

  16. So lately I've heard nothing but awful stuff about Zoya. I had some polish from them a while back, but never really thought anything remarkable about it. The color you've chosen is beautiful though!

    1. What did you hear? The only bad thing about them I've heard is about how they had some snags in shipping out some of their promo polishes :( Hope it doesn't hurt them too much I think their pretty good for the most part. Thanks, I really like it and it does stick much better with a base coat :)
