MyGlam February Bag

I don't usually post on the weekends but my very first MyGlam bag arrived in the mail yesterday so I thought I would share early! I missed out on the December and January bags but I was able to get in on the subscriptions in the middle of January so I could get this bag and future ones. If your not familiar with MyGlam they are a sampling service for $10.00 a month that was created by some YouTube Beauty Guru's (I'm not a fan of the "Guru" term..). The main one behind them is Michelle Phan but to be honest I never really watch her videos and I signed up because Jessica Harlow was on board, shes the person featured on the card this month.

This months bag included:
X Out Shine Control
NYX Roll on Shimmer - Green for me
Premier Dead Sea - Cinderella Mask and Eye Cream Samples
NuME Professional Styling Tools and Hair Extensions $100 Gift Card *
Freeman Facial Mask Sachet - Pineapple or Goji Berry
Ghirardelli Chocolates - Milk and Dark

*The "Gift Card" really isn't a true gift card see below.
First impressions of this bag leave something to be desired it's no where near as cool as the first two and it was supposed to Valentine's Day themed but I think they missed the mark on that. This months bag was really all about skincare which was just meh for me because I'm really picky about what I use on my skin now a days and I loathe anything associated with Proactiv... Needless to say I probably wont be using the X Out Shine Control. It did contain one makeup product from NYX so that was pretty cool but I'm not sure the green is really my color maybe for St. Patrick's Day! As for the Premier Dead Sea products I'm not really thrilled with them I had a friend who used to sell them and they are just well meh but I will probably give them a shot just to let you guys know about them. I received the Freeman mask in Goji Berry which is the hydrating version but I'm hesitant to use this because my skin is sensitive and I don't want to break out so we'll see. The Ghirardelli chocolates were a nice touch tho especially since it was supposed to be a valentines themed bag.

Now the one bone I have to pick about this bag is the NuME "Gift Card" It really isn't a gift card in the true sense that you can buy anything with it. You can only buy hair extensions or styling tools with this card and each of those are over $100+. I didn't expect to get a $100 gift card in a $10 dollar bag so I'm not surprised that there are restrictions but I think it is a little dishonest to put it in there when anything you buy from the NuMe website is going to run you $30 bucks at a minimum. It's an interesting business strategy I'll give them that but I'm not falling for it I'll stick with my CHI flat iron over the NuME products any day.

I"ll review the products I actually try soon! There were also a few coupon codes in them for the NYX and Dead Sea Products which are also just okay. For now I'll stick with MyGlam but if they keep pulling stunts like the gift card and including way too much skincare stuff I'll be forgetting about them.

  1. I wish all these sample sites would actually include ONLY makeup samples! I am a skincare junkie and all BUT I LOVE makeup too!

  2. I've been wondering about My Glam...I am currently a member of Birchbox since October. I have to say, starting in Dec my boxes starting to get good! I am curious about the shine control so I'm looking forward to your review of the box!

    1. They have had their ups and downs as a company so far I know last month there was a lot of unhappy customers, this month seems to have gone smoother tho. I've wanted to try BB for awhile as well but haven't quite bit the bullet on them yet! I probably wont use the shine control but we'll see I'm not a fan of anything associated with Proactiv :(

    1. Yeah I'm hoping they are going to come out with a bag as great as Decembers so I'm going to stay subbed for a few more months I'll just have to wait and see.
