Dermstore Lip Quench

I've been using the Dersmstore Lip Quench that I received in my April 2012 MyGlam Bag and so far I'm kinda on the fence about this product. About the time everyone started getting their glam bags Dermstore was offering this as a free gift with purchase. To be honest I thought that was a bit odd and in the future I would like to see us get things that are not free gift with purchase products or at least not at the same time were getting it. I think that kind of devalues it and makes me think that they had an over abundance of these and that's why we got them, but enough about that on to the actual product review.

*To clarify since there seems to be some confusion, this was sent to me in my monthly MyGlam (now Ipsy) subscription service that I pay for ($10 a month + tax) I did not receive this as a free gift with purchase. When this was sent out to the MyGlam subscribers this was the free git with purchase on the Dermstore website and that is why I feel that this particular product was not worth receiving in my monthly subscription.

My initial impressions of this product were pretty good its a great size for a lip product and it claims to hydrate, soften and add a hint of color. You can't really go wrong with that however trying to get it out of the tube is another story. It comes out of it's tube for lack of a better word.. pretty stiff... I have found that was not just a one time occurrence in the tube the product feels too thick for this type of packaging. Once you get passed that it does apply nicely and for being pretty thick inside the tube it does not feel heavy on the lips and leaves a very believable natural tint and shine behind.
I like the way the product makes my lips feel and it does hydrate well. The only downfall I feel this product has is how it smells. I can't quite put my finger on what it smells like other than something artificial. That being said it's a faint smell but being this goes on your lips you can smell it for the most part.

I have worn this alone and layered over another lip product for shine. It stays on as well as any other lip gloss and does not withstand eating and drinking but does leave your lips soft.

This product retails for $12.00 for Dermstore for 0.21 oz and comes in only this pale pink shade. I don't think I'll be re purchasing this product just because I have so many other lip products that I like better but overall this is not a bad product I just really can't get over how it smells. Also I didn't swatch this because the color is so faint it would not show up on camera.

What do you think of Dermstore's Lip Quench?

  3. I haven't yet tried this ( I received this in myglam bag as well) but I guess you can never have too many good lip balms. I know this product was new to the "dermstore" market so I don't know if I would say they had an overabundance that nobody wanted rather than a flooded marketing campaign for a new product aimed to get people hooked. But I definitely understand where you're coming from; a product being offered for free at one site does de-value it as a "paid for" item in our bags.
