The Art of Shaving Lemon Full Size Kit

Here is something for the man in your life a full size shaving kit from The Art of Shaving in Lemon. My boyfriend was on a business trip a few weeks ago and when he is out and about he usually buys things he wouldn't buy if I were around like this shaving kit.. This is quite expensive so I wouldn't recommend picking this up for someone unless you really know they are going to use it.

Now the only reason I'm semi okay with the price tag on this is because he loves it and hes gotten quite a bit of use out of it and still has tons left, I'll get to the sticker shock price later.

This kit comes with:
Pre-Shave Oil (2 fl. oz), Shaving Cream (5.0 oz), After-Shave Balm (4 fl. oz), and a Silvertip Badger Black Shaving Brush.

Had I been there I probably would have talked him out of the badger brush to me that's just not cool. Badger's are a protected species in North America and most of Europe so the hair comes from China for the most part. The Art of Shaving does not offer a synthetic brush line as far as I can tell.

Anyway since I obviously can't use this kit because I don't shave my face I had to take his word on how much he likes and he says it does cut down on irritation and makes the shave very smooth. I can tell you that the lemon smells very good it's light and fresh and doesn't linger on the skin.

Now onto the sticker shock these kit's retails for $100-$200 for the full size kit depending on what type of brush you get. If you go all out and get the $200 kit you save $62 because the Silvertip Badger brush retails by itself for $180. He also picked up a metal brush stand that retails for another $60. This is what happens when you let men shop by themselves.. lol

I do feel these products are high quality but since I don't shave my face I think I might be underestimating the value of these items (kinda like he does my makeup) because I don't think they are worth the price tag. My boyfriend on the other hand thinks they are worth every penny so from a guys perspective totally worth it.

What do you all think of The Art of Shaving Full Size Kit in Lemon, is it worth the money or not?

P.s There is a poll on the upper left I want to know what comment platform you guys want to see on the blog, so please vote!

  3. It looks like a super nice kit but my hubby would veto it simply because of the price even if he was into shave balms, brushes, and oil (which he isn't).

My hubby has to shave daily because of his job so for someone like him I think it would be a good purchase/value that is if your guy is into all those extras.

    1. Yeah I have to agree the price is only worth it if you know they are going to use it regularly.

  4. There are a number of ways you can get into this less expensively. Many large groceries and drug stores carry Van Der Hagen shave soap (~$2 and it's not too bad! Look for the "Deluxe" or "Glycerin" versions). These same places usually carry a cheap "natural hair" shaving brush (~$8 but it is not very good quality at all, using boar hair). Less expensive badger brushes are available from Tweezerman (of all places, ~$15) and some Target stores have begun to carry the Van Der Hagen badger brush (also ~$15). If your local mall has a Body Shop outlet, they carry a synthetic brush. I wrote a post for my blog about inexpensive entries into traditional shaving-- http://bit.ly/IgCyoC and I also have a bunch of videos on how to shave with these kinds of products (http://www.youtube.com/shavetutor).

  5. I think that this is definitely worth the money. My husband absolutely LOVES the Art of Shaving creams, lotions, everything! And anything that will make him shave regularly, I'm all for it! He uses the Lavender scent, and it makes me want to (and I do!) kiss him over and over until the scent goes away! So I guess he benefits from it too! LOL! Also, if you run out of shave gel, the shave cream is awesome. :) Also, they make toners, cleansers and masks (yes!!!!)...

    Great post!!!!
