July 2012 Glossybox

My July 2012 Glossybox has made it here with 3 days to spare! I must say I am rather frustrated with their shipping company, it seems they are using a horse drawn carriage to send these boxes out. I know I'm one of the lucky ones as others still have not received their box and is estimated they will get them on the very last day of the month.

I'm not going to lie I was very tempted to cancel after this month because Glossybox has had a lot of growing pains with the US launch. I'm not just talking about slow shipping either, last month many subscribers who received the Ahava body wash had it explode all over their box and they are still waiting on replacements or their money back as it ruined the rest of the box contents. I was one of the lucky ones again and didn't have this happen with mine but it has happened to many of my blog friends. There is also the billing issues they have been having last month I was sent multiple emails claiming I had been charged a total of three times for this months box. Two of the emails ended up being false lucky for me. The CS is also very lack luster for the most part and I feel they really need to step up their game!

Now enough about that for now, let's get into this month's products.

Alessandro International | Pedix Heel Rescue Balm
This came just in time my boyfriends feet are horrible and he really needs something to help them out. I'm going to try this out on him and see if it can actually help his feet!

Sebastian | Color Ignite Multi Tone Shampoo
This product is for color treated hair something mine is not so I find it curious that this was in everyone's boxes. My beauty profile on the Glossybox website reflects this as well. I'll more than likely still use it since it smells really nice but I'm not sure it will have any effect on my hair but I guess it can't hurt it right?

Sebastian | Color Ignite Multi Tone Conditioner
It's nice they included a matching conditioner for the shampoo, but again my hair isn't color treated. The packaging for this product is interesting as it's in a pressurized bottle.

Figs & Rouge | Lip, Face & Body Balm
I think this product is a really nice touch to the box it's in Sweet Geranium and it's organic. I tired some on my lips earlier and it feels nice very slick but not greasy.

Senna Cosmetic | Mineral Eye Shadow Trio in Cloud 9
The colors in this trio are pretty and they swatched without a primer nicely. I can't say I'm a huge fan of blue eye shadow but I'm sure I'll find some use for it. The lighter shade is something I will for sure get some use out of tho, as shades like that are go to's for me. This product was sent in assorted color trios the other one I've seen is of neutral shades.

The last product this month is considered an extra:
Ruddy Water | Blushed Fragrance Towelette
This smells really good it's red currant, vanilla, sweet lemon, ginger, and sugar also known as right up my alley! I have tons of perfume so I wont be repurchasing this but it for sure smells lovely.

Well there you have it July 2012 Glossybox, I think this box was good but I don't know that it's good enough to keep me subscribed. Maybe this sample box just isn't for me I'm very on the fence with it at this point.

What do you guys think should I stay with Glossybox a little longer or drop it?

  1. $21 is a little too much for something I'm not sure I'll be using. That's the reason I didnt subscribe them. It's better to spend that money on something I really want like a high end lipstick!!:)

  4. I still haven't gotten my box...hopefully will tomorrow. I feel a little "meh" about the boxes I've seen this month...they aren't terrible, but this month there isn't one product that I'm sitting here thinking "I HAVE TO TRY THAT!", you know?

I will give them another month, and then I might unsubscribe. I do appreciate that the brands are mostly new to me, however! It's a nice change, since, as much as I like the well known brands, I already KNOW if I like them or not, you know?

    Excited to try the perfume!

    1. Eeek I hope you get it soon I know if I had gotten it on the last day of the month or in August I would be dropping them for sure. I agree there aren't any brands in here that are like OMG I have to try that but they are brands that are new to me. I wish they would put some more Kyrolan or OPI products in the boxes.

Yeah I think I will too just because I can't decide lol It's hard!

The perfume really does smell great your going to love it.

  5. I agree with the other girls, for $21 a month you could go out and purchase a product that you really want, and on your own time rather than waiting for them to finally ship their packages out. It is a tough call. I think they priced their boxes too high, honestly.

    1. I think so too I wish it would have been like $15 at most.

  6. I have always been hesitant on this service because of the price. That alone, should make this company realize how "perfect" they have to or should be!

On the other hand, That eye shadow trio is amazing. I love it!

    Your pictures are looking great!

  8. This is why I can't commit to these types of things... it always seems after awhile they just start to disappoint. Plus, I'm not a huge beauty products girl. If they had a box filled with shoes, now that's another story! Ha.

  9. And this is why I stick to asking Sephora for free samples of stuff I want to try. It seems like all the boxes...Glossy, Birch and Glam Bag are slipping lately. It's a great concept if they could just get it right. Glad you finally got yours!

  10. AHHH! Why you get this before me??? HAHA! This box is on its way to me and I am super excited to see the eyeshadow! I am very happy with Glossybox, but then again the only subscription I can compare to is Birchbox. I hope the billing issue is resolved and like any company there are always initial growing pains....

    1. I would suggest starting with the lower priced ones Birchbox ($10 a month) is always a good place to start I think just because they really do have something for almost everyone. They have also been around the longest so they have all the kinks worked out. If your looking for products that are a bit younger and more trendy My Glam (also $10 a month) could be for you. They have gone thru their growing pains and seem to be getting things on track now. They have had lack luster bags in the past but the last few I've gotten have been real good. There is also Beauty Army but I haven't tried that one myself it is in the lower price range tho and $12 a month. With them you get to select your samples.

If your looking for something that has it all then Little Black Bag is the way to go however it is the most expensive subscription service I have right now at about $60 a month after shipping and taxes (boo for CA customers). They offer handbags, jewelry, accessories, home goods, beauty products and a few other things. With them you have the ability to pick your main item tho and trade your other ones for things you might like better so it's a lot of fun. You can find more info on the ones I'm subbed to if you click on Sample Subscriptions at the top all my reviews for them are there :)

  15. This is the first time I've really read into the US Glossybox.. I'm surprised its a $21 subscription per month! Up here in Canada it only costs $15.. odd. At $21 per month, I would definitely want to be wowed by the products in the box :( Hopefully next month is better and can help you with your decision!

  17. Yikes, that sounds like serious growing pains! It looks like you get a pretty impressive amount of goods though - I stopped birchbox because the sample sizes got on my nerves.

  22. thank you for being so honest about this, Ashley! I've been wanting to subscribe to a box for a long time now, but I wanna make sure that I don't get all frustrated when I do so. What I totally want is a box with all Asian cosmetics, but I may be asking for too much, huh? hahaha. It sucks that the shipping and billing are all screwy, but I think you got fab products this month! I love the packaging of that balm-- so very cute! and I can't wait to see you use those shadows (even if you don't use blue)

  24. I like your box so much better than mine! The price is definitely steep and I just don't know if it will be worth keeping. I think this US service needs more TLC so it's more similar to the other countries boxes. Once it's re-vamped its service it will be more worth it. I'm waiting out another month but if it's not better after that I'll be cancelling.

  25. nice reviews, its a shame the company still seems a bit rocky and slow :( i think you should leave them tbh

  26. A lot of the things in the box seem really nice (expecially the lip & body balm that I kind of want now). But I'd be really upset if I had to deal with all of the shipping and faulty products.
