The Blind Bat and The Sales Associate

I don't look too happy in these pictures and I'm going to tell you guys why! As some of you know I went and got some new specs recently unfortunately after having them for a little while I started noticing a blur in my left eye. At first I thought I was just crazy but one day while in the grocery store I realized I couldn't clearly read those giant signs they have over the aisles even tho I was right on top of it.  So back to the eye doctor I go to find that my left eye has gotten worse over the last month mainly because it has gotten lazy because my right eye sees better than it.

Before I went in I called ahead and told the associate what was going on and that I wanted to see the doctor he says sure no problem just come on in even tho I wanted to make an appointment. I take his word for it and go in as a walk in anyway and low and behold it's a busy Sunday and I can't see the doctor till 4, it was 1:30.... So much for not needing an appointment. Two and half hours later I get in to see the doctor and she confirms that my left eye has gotten a bit worse and writes up the script to adjust it.


Now comes the part where I get very annoyed and this is going to be a rant because I still really can't believe how horrible this sales associate lady was.

Let me set the scene for you there are 2 sales associates on the floor and there are no customers at this point besides me. There are also some lab techs and of course the eye doctor. The eye doctor asks SA #1 that is up at the desk if he can enter in my info and get my new lens ordered, he replies that he is clocked out and waiting for SA#3 who is not in the store to bring back food for him. Okay no problem so she goes over to the lady SA#2 who is the only clocked in SA on the floor. Now this lady is incredibly ditsy and unprofessional and starts to argue with the eye doctor in front on me. Apparently she is also waiting for food to arrive from SA#3 and wants to eat when it gets here so she doesn't have time to help me. The eye doctor kept her cool and pointed out that SA#2 had already taken her lunch break for the day. Mind you I am not 5 feet away from these two and can hear everything this lady is saying.

She finally agrees to help me so we sit down at one of the tables to go over what I need done. She then starts complaining to me about the eye doctor and about how hungry she is. As she is entering in my info SA#3 the food guy has just arrived and do you know this lady has the nerve to ask me to wait for a "few more mins" while she goes and grabs a bite to eat. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! Needless to say I told her if she did that she would be processing a full refund when she came back instead of placing an order for a new lens.
That friends is why I look so glum in these pictures I didn't want to spend all that time at the eye doctor and I certainly didn't want to have to deal with that lady. I've worked in retail and customer service settings since I was 15 years old and I know how stressful it can be when your not having a good day but really this lady takes the cake. To top all this I still don't have my new glasses which is probably why I'm extra cranky today. I just hope that when they do arrive they are correct and I can honestly say I will probably never go back to this place even tho I really like the eye doctors. If I were the manager of this place I would fire the whole SA team and hire and re train a whole new staff, they are that bad.

Sorry for the long rant but that has really been getting to me lately!

  3. I'm wondering if the same has happened to me! Not 1 month into my new scprits that I find that I'm squinting more!
    Sorry about the horrible customer service, some people are just not meant to work in that field.

    1. It's very possible especially if your eyes are used to having the same script in both. It doesn't hurt to go back and have them checked.

  4. OH EM GEE. I cannot believe she had the gall to do that. If I were the manager or owner of that place, I would fire her on the spot. You should complain about it. That's just AWFUL :(

  5. Ugh that is awful!!! I worked in customer service for over 10years and it's tough....made me appreciate workers and customers more. You should call the big wigs and report this. Unacceptable.

  6. Some people have such a nerve. You waited hours because you couldn't see then she asks that. Unbelievable. Hope your glasses come in soon xx

  10. is it that hard to have good customer service!? no! hah I've been getting pretty frustrated with this lately too.. sorry you had to deal with these people lady and I hope your new glasses get in soon!!

  12. Oh no! I hate bad customer service! It's one thing to not want to help a customer out, but when she is 5 feet away? That is awful! And I cannot believe she had the idea to leave at the service counter while she went to take a bite. Good for you to tell her that if she didn't process the re-order now it'd be a refund. I hope the new glasses arrive soon!

  17. you should've just had them process the refund and taken your business elsewhere. I work in customer service and there are days I don't get a chance to eat for a full 8 hours! I don't complain to the customers about it because it isn't THEIR fault. suck it up like the rest of us!

  19. Oh no, that sounds HORRIBLE! And I agree with you - the manager should replace all the SAs. Good customer service is very important these days, especially when we all have so many choices. If you're not going back even if you really like the doctor, then it's a BIG problem for that practice!

    But on a positive note, your glasses look great on you! And I like your outfit!! :):)
