Ipsy formerly MyGlam September 2012 Glam Bag

Purchased By Me Referral Links
In case you missed my post early this month about MyGlam's name change to Ipsy you can check that out in full detail here. Like I said in that post I think the name change was a really bad idea but as long as they continue to send out quality products they can call themselves whatever they want. I can tell you right now three things I don't want to see in next months bag. The first one being nail polish this is the 3rd month that they have sent us an Andrea's Choice Circus nail color and I'm tired of them. I do appreciate that the colors weren't repeated but enough already. Second item I don't want to see would be Pink Lip gloss, we got a very similar shade in last months bag branded under the My Glam name. The last item I don't want to see in next month's bag would be a brush. I'm all brushed out from the My Glam branded brushes and while this London Soho brush is much nicer quality I would rather they put an actual makeup sample in. Now that I've gotten that out of the way lets get into the bag!

This month's bag includes:
...beauty by you themed

Circus by Andrea's Choice
In the color Tightrope, it's a very purple shade and I do quite like the color. Since we are heading into fall I don't know that I'll get much use out of it since I'm all about the dark shades right now.

The actual bag this month was much better quality than previous month's as well and has a little wrist strap.

Carol's Daughter Monoi Repairing Split End Sealer
I've used products from this company before and they are quite nice so I'm interested to see how well this works. I can say that it smells nice!.

Jane Sparkle Gloss in Sparkle Pink
This has good color pigmentation but it is a bit on the thick side.
London Soho New York Smudge Brush
This is a nice little brush it's synthetic so that is another plus in my book. This will end up being added to my endless brush collection.

Mirabella Eye Color in Semiformal
This is an okay color but I don't have a empty palette to put this little guy in so it's going to have to stay in the little cardboard package it came with. I'd also like to point out that this company shouldn't be confused with a company called "Marabella" that they worked with a few months ago. Before looking up this product I so thought it was the same company and the main thing I remembered about them was the hot mess they call a website. Fortunately Mirabella is nothing like 'Marabella' and have an actual functioning website to purchase from.
Overall I think this month was alright we did get useful products for the most part but I'm tired of the repeats! Next month I want to see something new and exciting from them and hopefully it will have a bit of a fun Halloween twist to it!

What do you think of the September 2012 Glam Bag?

  1. Looks great! I just signed up for the October bag so I hope its worth it.

  2. I thought about signing up for MyGlam--or Ipsy, or whatever they decide to call it next. I think they were way too early for a name change...anyway, I haven't really been wowed by any of the bags, and after this one I think they're really repetitive and mediocre. :( I wouldn't mind all the nail colors (though I agree that it's time to switch colors) but the brushes and pink glosses seem a wee bit lazy, if you ask me!

    1. I'm not much of a nail polish lady so I think that's why I'm not feeling them as much. I agree it does seem that way they told me next month is going to be awesome so lets hope they come through!

  4. The split end sealer is the only thing of real interest to me in the box.... but if it works I will have to get it! I am always battling them!

  5. These are great products but I can certainly understand that after getting similar selections month after month, it can get cumbersome.

  6. haha...I couldn't agree more!
I love that they are getting better and really stepping up their game, but ENOUGH of the Andrea's choice nail polish!

    And yes..more makeup items! :)

  7. OK Ashley, so this post made me laugh! I know exactly how you feel regarding things becoming repetitive. Do they have a twitter page? I know most of the time in social media (and i'm sure you know this as well) you can tweet your concerns or frustrations to a company and they will usually take that into consideration and change it or fix the problem. I am a pink girl, so I loved the polish and lip gloss :)

    1. Good to know I'm not the only one who sees this! They do and they read my post and said there would be no more Andrea's polish and that next month is going to be awesome so we'll just have to wait and see if they live up to it I certainly hope they do! ;)

    1. I do end up liking the majority of the products I get from them but I would like more of a variety from them. Thanks I'll check out your blog as well :)

  9. Ashley I really want to know what do you do with all those cosmetics. I have a beauty addiction too but wow you sure get a lot of stuff from that company. Also maybe you should write about what you would like to see, then I will tweet the post them.

    1. I'll have to show you my giant makeup tub sometime! Things I know I'm not going to use get mailed to my sisters once I accumulate enough worth sending. The rest I usually end up using at some point or have packed away for a future trip.

That is a great idea and I always tweet the companies my reviews, this one was actually read by the new @Ipsycare handle so I was quite impressed by that. She said next month is going to be awesome so lets hope they live up to it :)

  11. I bet getting the same of things would be annoying! I do love that eye shadow though. I can see it being worn in the crease to accentuate a brown smoky eye. And I bet it would look good with your eye color! <3

  12. Ohh awesome! Is that like BirchBox? It looks as if it might be more than $10/month though...how much is it? I quit receiving BirchBoxes because of how teeny tiny the trials were.

  13. Looks like some more fun products you've received. I LOVE Carol Daughter's products... they all work wonders and smell soooooooooooo divine!

  14. I wonder why MyGlam decided to change their name to Ipsy, and Ipsy of all names... Meh. I am not a fan of the name at all! The Circus by Andrea's Choice nail polish looks really fun, but I can totally understand why you would be sick of getting it if you've already received the same brand of polish for a couple months now.

  15. What exactly is Ipsy? It rhymes with tipsy lol. However, the box looks really cute and color coordinated.
