October 2012 Birchbox

Purchased By Me Referral Links

Birchbox I don't know whats up with you lately but these past few months you have really let me down. You have forgotten the little things that made me love you when we first met and you have continued to let yourself go. I'm willing to hang in there for a little longer but if things don't shape up soon I'm afraid I will have to move on to bigger and better things. It's not me It's you!
You guys may have noticed I'm incredibly late on posting what came in my Birchbox this month and that's because I'm quite disappointed in the box I was sent. It feels like they are not even trying anymore sending summery scented products and hair gel to fight humidity in fall just isn't going to cut it for me. This box makes me want to face palm and really say "WTF where they thinking?!"

You can check out my YouTube unboxing of this if your short and time and want the disappointment to be quick like pulling off a band aide.

There were 2 different sets of boxes this month the GOOP box and the regular Birchbox. I forgot to opt in or out and ended up getting a regular Transformation themed Birchbox.

My box included:
Transformation Theme

Ouidad Climate Control® | Heat & Humidity Gel
I don't know about you guys but since fall is in full effect there isn't any real humidity that I need to worry about. I might end up giving this a try when spring rolls around.... for now this product is a wash for me.

theBalm® cosmetics | Mary-Lou Manizer
I'm actually happy with this product I really like theBalm I think they are a great company and this highlighter doesn't disappoint it's very pretty on.

Lucy B Cosmetics | Roll On Perfume Oil Duo
These are very floral and smell to me like a summer scent. I'll probably give them a try at a later date, but I must not I hate the packaging on these since they have one of those stoppers in them.

Vitivia | Vitamin capsules
I keep forgetting to use these but eventually I'll give them a try so again not a total loss but I wasn't wowed by them that's for sure.

LUNA | Protein Chocolate Peanut Butter
I really wish Birchbox would learn that Luna bars taste like cardboard and sadness. Nothing against this company I'm sure a lot of health conscious people really like their stuff but I am not one of those people. If they are going to continue to send food items I would suggest to them to send something that isn't necessarily good for you, because I expect my box to be enjoyable each month. I don't need Birchbox helping me watch my weight the media does that far too well already. I don't want anymore Luna bars do you hear me Birchbox!!

Here is the up close and personal shot of theBalm's Mary-Lou Manizer for some reason I keep calling it Mary-Lou Loumanizer... It really makes your cheekbones look fierce so I'm glad I got this I'll be taking it with me on my trip.

This box again was a big let down and I don't think it has anything to do with transformation. Maybe it's just not translating thru the products for me but it's just not there it seems like a hodge podge box. I'm not sure how many box variations were out there this month so who knows if other boxes were better or worse than mine.

What do you think of the October 2012 Birchbox?

  1. I didn't opt in or out for the goop box and I ended up getting a goop box. A HORRIBLE GOOP BOX! I seriously am so disappointed in my box. I wish I would have got thebalm like you or at least an essie polish. I also got a naaaaasty luna bar, I even tried to tell my kids it was a brownie so they would try it, they spit it out soooo fast!

  2. Well the highlighter is nice!! But vitamins AND food in the same box, not cool! Birchbox box needs to step it up, I probably would've cancelled if I didn't like this month box.

    1. Hi Helene thanks for stopping by. I went to visit your blog but it loads and then continually refreshes the page it seems there is something wrong with some script that is running on your site. I would suggest wiping your template and starting fresh.

  6. Once again, an awesome box that i need to subscribe to. I just am not sure which one to pick! XD

awww i'm sorry you're not happy with your box D: ...... why hello annoying ad that's in front of the post! <__< please go away!!!!!! ah! there we go :D

that is kinda odd about the heat&humidity gel.... where i live it's humid 100% of the year, but that's because i live on the southern coastline. O_o the rest of the world doesn't have this problem.

the loumanizer(lol) is interesting. I'm not sure if it's for me, but at least you got a nice product out of the box :)

  7. eek not the best box! The Mary Luminizer is pretty, but other than that I think I would have been super disappointed had I gotten this one! They are really skimping on sample sizes lately. Either the sample is ridiculously tiny (or a one time use foil sample), or they try to fill the box with food items (I'd put the vitamin capsules in that category). bleh! Step it up Birchbox!

  10. Hey! So I actually canceled my sub w/ Birchbox because not only are the boxes really sucking as of lately, but so does their shipping. I got a Goop box and the only valuable thing was an Essie full size polish.

I've moved on to Julep Maven adn gone back to Sample Society.

    Good luck w/ Birchbox.

    1. I'm going to wait them out but I hope they don't send me another crapptastic box.

If I do cancel them I think I'll try SS or BA!

    2. Beauty Army the are $12 a month and you get to select I think 5 samples from an offering they present to you and I think you can skip months with them too. I've been thinking of trying them out but haven't yet.

  11. I'm so happy I read this post. I was just about to sign up on their website last night!
I feel like it's a bit over hyped.
But I swear it used to be so much better when they first started, right? Or is it just me...
I saw my friends get all these amazing items and that made me want to sign up.

But after reading your post, I'm definitely going to think about it more... maybe I will try another company...

Anyway, I would love it if you can check out my blog. And maybe we can keep in touch by following each other on GFC? MOIOLOGY

    1. Yeah I would wait they really need to step up their games, especially since Ipsy is the same price ($10) and they are deluxe or full size samples for the most part now.
