Urban Decay Naked Skin BB Cream

If you guys caught my post last month about my December Ipsy Glam Bag you know I received a sample of the Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm with SPF 20. Now that I've had a chance to try it out and since it's being officially released today I thought I'd give you guys the run down on what I thought about this product.

First just let me say that I generally have never met an Urban Decay product I didn't like aside from their mascara and I hate to say it but I don't like this BB cream either.

As far as BB cream goes I haven't had a lot of luck with them anyway because I am so fair. However not only is the color an issue for me and this product but also how it wears and the consistency.

Let me start with the color when this is fully blended into the skin I find it gives me an almost orange haze that is especially noticeable in natural light. I'm sure this was from the product oxidizing as that has been my problem with most BB creams and albeit this wasn't nearly as orange as others I've tried it was still noticeable.

Next the wear was not nearly as good as I would have expected from a Urban Decay Product. Just hours into wearing only this product on my face I started to feel oily. Now I do have oily combo skin so this was something I expected but not around 4 hours into wearing it. The next day I set this with some MUFE HD powder and still found myself oily after a few hours of wear. When I used this under my foundation I had the same problem but much worse, think hot mess. This BB cream offers little to no coverage so for someone like me who's skin is far from perfect adding a foundation is a must and being super oily after such a short time with this product underneath is a bummer.

Last the consistency of the product is very thin and watery. It spreads very well but it makes your skin feel a little too slick and I think this is the where the flaw lies in the product. The ingredients that make the skin so slick are more than likely the culprits that are making it slide off my face in just a few short hours.

I really wanted to love this product because it's Urban Decay and they rarely let me down but I can't recommend this product after my experience from the sample.

The full size product retails for $34.00 and can be found at Urban Decay online. The price is comparable to other BB creams that are on the market right now but I think there are better products within the price range.

What do you think of the new Urban Decay Naked Skin BB Cream?

  1. Thanks for being so honest about this! It's a bit of a shame though, I was hoping for better things from this BB cream!

  5. I'm not going to lie~ i've been abit biased once the BB cream hype began being pushed in the US beauty market. And i've honestly felt that alot of companies...arent really making them AS BB creams~but are just half-assing it and slapping the 'BB' on top of the product so it can sell. Although i'm darker~ i've had no problems using the asian brands BBs in my foundation routine and I love how they feel, but luckily... you didn't exactly spend your money on this directly and it was a sample.

    1. I completely agree from what I know about the Asian ones the American ones are a very watered down version! I wish they would have stayed more true to form I think it would have been much better.

  6. Thank you for the honest review! I love Urban Decay but haven't been impressed with their "Naked" line of foundations or this BB Cream.

    1. Yeah i brought the Naked foundations, I had to mix two different numbers to get blend in to my skin. The finish look was a bit ashy looking.

    2. I haven't tried the naked skin line but I don't think I'll be straying away from MUFE for foundation anytime soon, thanks for the tip!

  8. I love urban decay as well but the bb cream isn't for everyone. The formula from what I've tried is definitely a bit too greasy for my preference.

  10. I am so disappointed! I am glad you did this review though because I probably would have bought it and wastes money. I have fair skin too and have so much trouble finding BB Creams. I use the cheap-o Garnier one right now. It's not great, but it's the only one I've been able to tolerate...haha.

    1. Me too I think with being fair and having oily skin us bb creams are just not made for us, they oxidize way too much! I have heard some of the Asian ones work well for fair skin tones but have not tried any myself.

  11. I was JUST going to order this online since no stores have it in stock yet! Thanks for being honest...

I have a hard time with BB creams, I WANT to love them, but keep going back to Benefit Porefessional.

  12. Such a shame! I've not found a BB cream I liked yet so maybe I should try the Asian versions...

  13. I recently tried Tarte's BB cream and really liked it (I have oily/combo skin too). They have a good shade range including a pale shade for fair skin like myself :)

  14. Thank you doe the review!!
I was interested into BB cream recently and I love Urban Decay products all the time. But now I need to rethink about it 'cause my skin is extreme oily and I use Makeup For Ever HD powder too. The powder controls oil pretty good when I used it with UD foundation.
And I'm so surprised they offer only one color choice!!

  15. I definitely recommend trying some of the Asian BB creams. I bought a bunch of trial sized ones, of all different brands and formulations. Some are so light I can use them as undereye concealer/highlighters. The coverage is much better, with far less product. I have been testing the UD version, and except for the oiliness (I have "normal/combination" skin), I am coming to the same conclusions you have. To compare, it took two layers of about 2 pea-sized amounts each of the UD to get even close to the same coverage I get with 1 pea size amount of ANY asian bb cream.
