Ipsy Glam Bag June 2013

Purchased By Me Referral Links
After vacationing it's way thru the south my Ipsy Glam Bag for June has arrived in California! I have to say this is not my favorite month and I think one of the main products was a poor choice for this bag all together. I do like the majority of items I received however I may be swapping them for different colors so no swatches for those products this month.
This months theme:
Wild Side
NYX | Cream Blush in Natural
Funny thing is I actually have this blush in this exact same color just in powder form. I do like the color but since I already have it in another form I'm thinking of swapping it out for another color.

Chella | Ivory Lace Highlighter *this was an "OR" product
Again not sure if I will keep this one but it is meant for highlighting your brow bone, inner corners of eyes, and even your cupids bow above your lips.

Starlooks | Lip Liner in Bare
Again not really my color I'm more of a pink gal when it comes to lip products.
Cailyn | Linefix Gel Eyeliner in Purple *this was an "OR" product
I'm really pleased I received this in purple it's the color I was hoping for. I like that this goes on smooth and has a lot of staying power after I took the swatch I tried to rub it off my hand but it was not budging.
J Cat Beauty | Sparkling Cream Palette in Volta
I am so unimpressed and disappointing in this product, this is the item that I think was a poor choice for this months bag. The glitter in this palette is very gritty and the petroleum it's suspended in doesn't help make it any better. When swatching these I had tons of fallout and even swatched with my finger they came out very sparse. The prodcut did not seem to want to stick to my skin at all and I was left with a glittery mess instead of smoothly applied look. These are suggested to be used as body glitter or for body art... How old am I? Too old for body glitter that's for damn sure!

I do not recommend using this product in the eye area as the glitter could be potentially harmful if it were to make it's way into your eyes.
Ipsy has stated on their FB Page:
Ipsy It is meant to be used as body glitter not eye shadow. Use it for body art, body glitter, or a little added shine to your lipgloss! Hope that helps!
I wont be using it for any of those things because it's such a poor quality product. I hope in the future they tread more carefully around products that market themselves as one thing but are actually meant for another purpose.

Lastly for referring two friends I received a Bauble Bar O ring Bracelet in my June Glam Bag. I am happier with this piece than I thought I would be it is very well made. The only thing that bugs me is that you can see the little cut in the ring but that is probably just my OCD coming out.

Overall I think this was an OK month it wasn't the best but it's also not the worst. I feel the J Cat Palette was a poor choice and removing it and putting a good quality product would have taken this month to a better place.

The other "OR" products this month were J Cat Beauty False Lashes or Psst! Dry Shampoo.

Ipsy Glam Bags are $10 a month + tax in the US or $10 a month + $4.95 in Canada for deluxe samples and full sized beauty products

What do you think of the June 2013 Ipsy Glam Bag?

  1. Oooh that highlighter looks interesting. I like the idea of it being a pencil. Might have to give that one a go!

    1. Yes I dig that it's in pencil form too that makes it very versatile.

  2. I'm also not happy about the glitter palette, but other than that, I'm okay with it. I was really hoping for a powder blush and not a cream though. I have yet to see anyone that received a powder blush. Oh well, I'm happy nonetheless. Great post! xx

  4. They seem to do better then fall off again. If it was meant for art and body why does it come with an eye applicator? lol. Ipsy just isn't worth it to me anymore. Glad they are giving more products though!

    1. Right! That is what so many were asking too. It comes with eye applicators why isn't is eye safe? I don't blame Ipsy for the product being poorly made that is on J Cat but they really dropped the ball on including it in their service.

  7. I think I'm the only person who hasn't gotten her Ipsy bag!! Hopefully it comes tomorrow. I agree that the glitter palette is a terrible choice because grown women are the primary purchasers of these bags, and most grown women do not use body glitter!

  8. You have so much great stuff Ashley, I am thinking that I may look to some type of charitable organization to share some of my extra beauty products.

  9. For me the Cailyn eyeliner makes the bag worthwhile. The J.Cat stuff is garbage and is getting blasted on all blogs. I didn't know it was a body product so I'll update my review with that.

    1. Yes that was my fave piece in this bag too. I agree 100% it was such a poor choice for the bag imo. I have also noticed a lot of people are unaware that this product isn't intended for use on the eyes which make it even worse I hope no one ends up being hurt! J. Cat should really be more conscious of who and how they are marketing their products not everyone is as in the know as bloggers.

    1. There are a few place you can go the Ipsy Swap Forum on their FB page or if your a member of makeuptalk you can make a trade thread there.

  11. It's always fun seeing what everyone else gets in their bags! Not until reading your blog did I realize that was not eye safe glitter heheh. Oh well I wasn't harmed in the swatching :)
